TARARU WATER SUPPLY.
A MBKXiNO of the miners of Tararu, to bear the reply of hie Honor the Superintendent to the deputation Bent to wait on him with reference to the question of taking part of thfe water from Taraiu Greek to other parts of the gold field, was held on Friday, at the, junction of Tararu Greek and Tinker'i Gully, at the site of Ruuell and Co.'* battery, Mr, Daavers explained tbe nature of the proi oeedings between the Superintendent and the deputation, and ootximenttd on hit Honor*! answer*. After some diicusiion, it was pro* posed by Mr. Thomson and seconded by Mr, Brennan, "That the maeting expresses its want of confidence in Mr. Williamson for the undeoided manner in which be replied to the deputation of tbe minen of Tararu and Tinker'i Gully." Mr. Dwyer proposed as an amendment, "That this nueting it of opinion that Mr. Williamion has acted fairly to the district of Tararu." The amendment waa seconded by Mr. Hunt; and on being put to the meeting was declared lost. The original motion waa then put to the meeting and carried by a majority of 27 to 17. Ib was proposed by Mr. Dwyer, '• That the first resolution be rescinded." This was carried by allowance, and on the motion of the same proposer and seconder it was resolved that the miners of Tararu are determined to maintain their rights by all legal means. The Chairman said he had seen Mr. Graham, and was informed by that gentleman tbat tbe natives interested had written him a letter to '< say thaf, if the water was taken out of the creek, they (the natives) would out the flumes down. Mr. Barnsley was sorry to hear the resolution oomo to by the natives, as no good could come of using pbysioal force. He wonld move that the deputation, assisted by himself, take active measures to seoure the co«opera* tion of the natives to maintain the water rights for Tarara. The resolution was seconded by Mr. Fairburn, and carried without » dissentient roioe. After some further (desultory conversation the meeting dosed with a vote of thank a to the chairman, — Advertiser, November 13.
