November 2 : A crushing of 137 tonß of atone from the Almanda mines yielded 250 pounds of silver, which has yet to be assayed. Three thousand bushels of wheat weie sold to-day at 5s 6d. November 3 : An angry discussion took place in both Houses respecting the dismissal of the Postmaster-General, The debates were without Any practical result. The Mercantile Marine Insurance Company has commenced business. The Canowia Station, containing 25,000 acres of purchased Und and 130 square mile* held under lease, with 63,000 sheep, was sold by auotion to-day for £59,300. Mr, Letcbford w»b the purchaser. The corn m*rk«t ii quiet ; wheat ii quoted at 5s 6d. November 4 : Archdeacon Twopenny died of disease of the heart, -falling dead from his horse. The thermometer yesterday rose / to 97' in the shade and 157* in the sun. November 6: Archdeacon Twopenny's funeral, at Riverton, was largely attended. The Governor and suite returned to town immediately afterwards. Keports have baen received of bushrangiug on the Barrier Ranges. November 6 ; The corn market is firmer, owing to the news by the 'Penang,' from San Francisco. S3. 7|d. has been offered for wheat, but sellers ask more money ; flour, £12 to £14.
