THE YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION. To the Editor of the Daily Souihern Cross.
SrR,~-In your local iatelligence f«r this day I find the following statement, which is calculated to produce a wrong impressiou ; — "Last evening Mr. Deck delivered a lecture at the rooms of the Young Men's Christian Association. It was one of the series of lectures given in connection with that Institution, and was delivered hi place of one by the Rev, Warlow Bavies. u The fact is, my name was inserted in the announcements of the Society for July 23rd without my knowledge or permission. Further it ia stated, " but Mr. Da vies had allowed this lecture to stand as the last of the course." The fact is, that I have declined doing so, and sent my reasons for taking that course. Having inserted the advertisement in opposition to a distinct promise, aud kept it in to the last moment in spite of noy continued protest, I think it was due to the Mibscvibers as well as myself that the secretary bhould hare stated the facts of the case.— l am, &c, J. T. Wablow Davihs. July 24, 1859.
