NEW ZEALAND INSURANCE COMPANY.
SEVENTEENTH HALF-YEARLY MEETING. The seTenteenth half-yearly meeting of the New Zealand Insurance Company wm held yesterday at the offices of the Company, Shortland-ttreet, to receive the half-yearly report of the director*, and to elect two auditors. The following gentlemen were present ;— Messrs. T. Russell, C. J. Stone, S. Browning, G. B. Owen, W. Tisdall, Vf. 0. Wilson, D. L. Murdoch, Gardiner, J, S. Maofarlane, C. J. Taylor, Heather, and Major Tisdall. Mr. S. Browning occupied the chair. The M»nager,Mr. G.P. Pierce, read the advertiamtQt convening the meeting, and also the Minutes of the last half-yearly meeting, which were con» firmed, The Manager alio read the following report : — Retort. "The directors now present to the shareholder! the accounts and balance-sheet of the Company for the half-year ending May 31, 1869, duly verified by tko auditors. " From the continued lostei whioh have attended insurance operations generally during the past aix months, the directors are gratified in bting able to preseot »o satisfactory a report. " The receipts, including the balance brought for* ward from last h«lf*jear, amount to £61,929 17s. 5d. ; the payments for claims and the turni appropriated for losses, expenses, Jfco., have been £52,607 Os. lid., leaving a balanen of £9,322 16». 6d., from which your director* reooramend the pay* raent of a dividend at the rate of ten per cent, per annum, carrying the sum of £6,572 16s. 6d. forward to the account of profit and lon.
