r\ IHE THAMES GOLD-SMELTING COMPANY JL (LIMITED). Incorporated under the Joint Stock Companies' Act, 1860, by which the liability of the shareholder is limited.

Capital : £20,000, in 4,000 shares of £5 eaoh. Deposit on application : £1 per share, and £1 on allotment. No call will exceed 10f. Directors : Patrick Leslie, Esquire, Auokland. Arthur Lascelles, Esquire, Auckland. Marmaduke Constable, Esquire, AuckUnd, James Smart, Esquire, Auokland. j With power to add to their number, J i> iilW h v! O Broker: Martin Sholl, Esquire, Queen-street, Auckland. Bankers : The Bank of New Zealand. Temporary Offices : Stichbury's Buildings, Queen-street, Auckland. This company is formed for the purpose of oarry. ing into practical operation in the province of Auckland the method of smelting gold and other ores lately patented by Messrs. Constable and Element. The difficulty of entirely separating gold from quartz which is highly impregnated with mundic or other base metals by any process at present in practice has long been admitted, and has for some time past engaged the attention of scientific men in all parts of the world, and it is believed that this interesting problem is now solved by the method adopted in the patent which this Company proposes to purchase and carry into practical effect. The success which has attended the experiment tried in Cox's Creek, where a furnace has for some time past been in active working, ia a convincing proof of the simplicity of the v operation, and of the fact stated by the Patentees, that it is as easy to smelt large quantities as small by this process. In America, the attention of the mining community has been attracted by the discovery of a flux with which it is alleged the same results as those promised by the Constable and Element Patent can be obtained, and the increase of gold from various ores is said to be fourfold. In the former case, however, the flux is an expensive chemical combination, difficult to procure and manufacture; but, in the process now offered to the public, the flux — which contains all the ingredients of the American flux, but ia a more simple and primitive form— is abundant throughout the whole of this province, and can be procured at a few shillings per ton. The actual cost of smelting the quartz is about £2 per ton, and ifc is confidently asserted that the result will compete with the Mint assay of the ore ; and the profit to be derived from moulding the molten silica into various useful articles such as paving- tiles, draining-pipeo, &c, would, it is believed, more than cover the whole cost of the process). The Inventors and Patentees have consented to reoeive one moiety of the consideration for their Patent right* in the province of Auckland in shares on which £2 10s. per share is paid up, and to receiye the remainder in cash on the allotment of the shares to the public. Ifc is proposed to erect smelting furnaces at the Thames goldfield, and, as no time will lie lost in commencing active operations, ifc is believed that dividends will be realibed before it will he necessary to call up the whole capital, and that a portion will be held in reserve if requisite. By the Articles of Association no call can be made of a larger amount than 10s., and two months' interval will be allowed between each call. Copies of the Articles of Association may be seen at the office of the Company, and applications for share, accompanied by a deposit of £1 per share, may be made to the Seoretary of the Company at the above address. Dated this twelfth day of June, 1869. Stichbury's Buildings, Queen-street, Auckland.
