PROPOSED NATIVE MEETING AT NGARUTAWAHIA.

A MEETING of influential cottiers w«a held on Saturday afternoon last, in Mr. Alfred Buckland's yard — Mr. William Bucklaod in the chair — fco consider the advisability of making some preparation for the reception of his Uoyal ißighness and his Excellency the Governor at Ngaruawahia, in the event of their attending the meeting proposed to be held at that place between the Ngapubis and' the Waikato natives. Tt was ptoposed by Mr. John Waiaaoe, and seconded by Mr. John Eunciman, " That it is highly desirable that as many of the settlers as could make it convenient to do bo bhou'd proceed to Ngaruawahia to receive his Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh and the Governor, in the event of both or either of them attending tho native meeting." The resolution was earned nemine contradicente. The Chairman- stated that he had been in communication with the Hon. Dr. Pollen, the Resident Minister, who had informed him that Mr. Mackay had telegraphed to s»y that as yet nothing certain was known as to the intentions of the King natives, nor could there be until Tuesday, but that in the meantime he woulJ undertake to say that at least four-and-twenty houra' notire should be giveu of the advent of the Tokan party, so as to afford ample time for 'the settlers concerned to complete auy preliminary arrangements they might wish to make, and to assemble' at snch place as might hereafter be indicated.
