THE WAIKATO. LATEST FROM HANGATIKI. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Alexandra, May 29, 4.40 p.m.

Messes. J. 0. Fieth, C. O. Paris, and J. W. Preece arrived here at 3 o'clock this afternoon, and intend to proceed as far as Lewis Hettit's place ta-morroir. There are no natires assembled here up to this time. It is not expected that tie party will bo allowed to proceed farther than Hettit's, or at at least Oraniri. They will, dqubtleas, be met there by some chief in authority, who will receive their menage, and ask.fjhen* to wait for | So far as 1 can Jefirn, no diroct communication ■ has been received as yet from Tawhio. A letter, I however, has been received from Manuhiri by Heta Tarawhiti, in which th« announcement is i made that the letter of Te Wheoro, inviting the ..King party to assemble at Ngaruawahia, has been handed, to them, but it is for Tawbiao to decide. Manuhiri concludes his epistle in something like the following terms :— lf God decrees, wt, will return to th» temple of our ancestors in the Waikato. Sophia (the Princess) is reported to be still at Ohme'muri, but ,Tawhiao has sent messengers to bring* he^ to j^garuawahia, or to urge her to return' quiokl^ to iHangatiki. Until she arrives, it is not probable Tawhiao will move towards the Waikato. To our mind it savour? strongly of a desire on the part of the Kingites to settle again at Ngaruawabia, with tho aonfiscated lands returned to them.
