Upper Flat?, in the Fi'zroy River.— Ma»t?ra of vessels are hereby informed that the cutting through the Opper Flats, m the Fitzroy Kiver, has now only a dejth of 2ft. 3iu. at low water spring*. Wide Bay Bar.— In consequence of the shonUog of the present Western Channel over Wide Bay Bar, masters of vessels are cautioned against using this channel until further notice. "It will be remembered," says the South Australian EegisUr, "that » veatel called the Fides was wr< eked on the noithern coast of Kangaroo Island lomo few years back, with a general cargo on boarJ. Several parties have speculated in the wreck with various success, and it was sold last week for £7 10s. to some spirited fellows who "have made up » yaity to explore the scene of the vessel's wreck, in hopes of making a &ood thing out of the metal part of the cargo remaining, for so long ago vas it submerged tbktnotuing el«e could be of any service. Tuts St. Kilda. — lhe Government steamer St. Kilda, Captain Fox, will leave hero for the East fnMt oa Friday moraine; next, and will visit the various settlements ob the Past Ooasfc, and th p no proceed to Auckland. On hr return she will probably bring the contingent of the Isgatipoions, now being raised for the Aimed Constabulary.— Welling' ton Independent, February 11. Ihe JKoabinb.— -The berths in the steamship Rua- | hive are beiug very rapidly taken, and there can be no doubt she will leave for lCngiaud full of passengers. An opportunity suoh as she present* ii not likely to occur again. She ia the lait of the steamer* recently engaged in the Panama service that will tteam home, as it haa been determined that the remaiuing two— the Kaikoura i and Rakaia— Bhall sail from Sydney direct to England. The grandeur of tha scenery in the Straits of Magellan, through which the UuaLiue will ) aas, and th« world-renowned bewty of tu© harbour ot Kio de Janeiro, where lhe will call, have doubtless, to some extent, produced this eagerness to secure berths by her ; but the great attraction is that rapidity and comfort of transit whioh which can only be found In fuU»p6weredj wellappointed steamers of the Raahine class. She leaves Wellington positively on the 27th March ; and, as so many berths are already secured, there seems some probability of "the contingency arising of her being compelled to shut out/ passengers. For this reason we would recommend intending passengers to eeleet their berths without delay. The Ruahine will take with her several of our molt esteemed oitizens ; and her departure from these shores will on many grounds be witnessed with keen regret— regret at parting from friends, and at seeing the last of a fine fleet of steamers, which did their work well, returning home from a field of unsuccessful enterprise. I—lbid.1 — Ibid. The2Vmar»£r«rafd,Februarys,sayßthaUhebarque Mystery has completed loading, and is expected to B&il for London this evening. She takes 1,810 bales of wool, shipped by Mesaw. Russell and Co. Ia a recent issue, we gave a paragraph from the Auckland Herald, announcing the loss of the Swallow, Captain Foster, at the FijU. We have since learned that the report is iuoorrect, the Swallow being now in tyttelton discharging cargo.— Welling* ton Evening Post, February 11. The Hobart Town Mercury of the 25th ult. says : —"The barque Bella Mary, bound for Auckland, New Zealand, took on board her horeeß^lS in number, for that poit on Saturday morning, The animals are fine samples of the BtockoEtbia description bred in Tasmania, especially a fine draught sire horse, the property of Mr. Denis Murphy, which oompetent judges declare to be oapable of drawing three tons weight on a level road, and which is as gentle and docile as he is poworfuL The shipment of this valu« able portion of the freight was effeoted without • the turning of a hair' on any of the hoisei, and the animals looked thoroughly contented and com* fort»ble in their new and unaccustomed quarter*. Captain Copping has also under his care for the present trip 8 cabin passengers, and a general cargo of timber, flour, fruit, jam, produce, and other articles." Notice to Mi.BiNßßS.—'New Zealand— North Island.— Fixed Light on Somts Island, Port Uichol-•on.—-Information haa been received that a light haa been established on Somes Island, Port Nicholson, in the province of Wellington, New Zealand.
