The Suez mail arrived at the Bluff yesterday. The Queen's health is much improved. A great revolution has broken out in Spain, headed by Duke de Satorre and General Prim. The insurgents are masters of Alia, Seville, Estremadura, Corunna, Galicia, and Santander. The Government has formed a presidency. They have published manifestos in favour of liberty of the press, education, religion, commerce, "universal suffrage, and abolition of the Bourbons. The late ministers have fled to jPrance. Queen Isabella remains at Sebastian. ' The insurgents are masters of the fleet. Prim, with three frigates, anchored before Carthagena, which, together with Granada, has joined the revolutionists. The insurrection is everywhere triumphant. The Eoyal Troops were defeated near Cordova. The garrison at Madrid fraternised with the people. Late special telegrams state that at the wool sales ending on September 30, 23,000 bales were withdrawn. The prices obtained were 2d. to 4d. below the July sales. The French Atlantic cable was commenced on October 1. Mandrake won the Doncaster Cup. Colonel "Wilson Patten succeeds Earl Mayo as Secretary for Ireland. The King of Prussia made a speech, the menacing tone of which caused a panic in Paris ; but it afterwards received a pacific interpretation from the ofllcial press. An attempt has been made to assassinate the Viceroy of Egypt by dropping an explo- | sive ball on his carriage. The perpetrator was not discovered. Disraeli has issued an address to his constituents, in which he reviews the Conservative Administration, declares the army and navy effective, and re-affirms uncompromising hostility to Gladstone's High Church nolicv.
London, October 2. Bank discount, 2 per cent. Consols, 93 to 95. The wool sales have increased the heaviness already experienced, prices having receded 2d. to 3d. below June and July sales. Hopes are entertained of a. speedy ettlement of the Alabama claims. The King of Prussia has made two pacific speeches. Great reductions are contemplated in the British army, comprising, amongst others, a reduction of the force in Australia. Madame Rachel has been convicted, and sentenced to five years' penal servitude. Sir John Young, ex-Governor of New South Wales, has been appointed GovernorGteneral of Canada.
London, October 3. The inhabitants of Madrid have elected a Council Government, by universal suffrage. The whole of Spain has joined in the revolution.
