THE VERY LATEST.
As our Wyndham-street contemporary so very frequently boasts of presenting to his readers the very latest news, we will show in as few lines as possible how "very late "it is:— On the 13fch instant we published telegrams from Wellington, noticing rejection of Ballot Bill, illness of Mr. Rolleston, arrests for conspiring to defraud Southland Government, friendly natives going over to rebels, and refusal of Timaru electors to elect member for Prorincial Government. The wh«l« of *kio now atalo news was served out to his readers by our contemporary in yesterday's issue, under the heading "Latest Southern telegrams." On the 15fch instant we gave particulars of the attack by the Maoris on the Xataramea redoubt and repulse. On the 16th the Herald quotes a paragraph from the Evening Neios to prove that the intelligence was a fortnight old, and yesterday he gives the very words of our telegram — still under the head " Latest Southern telegrams."
