PUKEKOHE EAST.— CORRECTION.
To the tfditor of the Wmkly News. Sir, — in the Weekly News of the 3rd instant, in giviug the report or the interview which the deputation of E«st Pukekohe and < noheke bad with bis Honor the Deputy->upr rintendent, on the 30th September, you have made it appear that I suid, " Your Honor, at a m-eting held <»n the 9th, I, on behalf of tbosu who Wt-re Dot satisfied with the rltcision come to by that nieeiing, movetl that we would not let the matter drop;" whereas it ought to read thus : "Your Huuor, at a meeting held on the 9th, in the district, I, on behalf of those who were not satisfied, warned that meeting that East Pukekohe would not let the matter dr»p." Accor iingly J urew U|> a petition and subm tted t'ie same, which was approved of ; and it wan arranged that Mr. J. C mrie ami a Mr. D. should take the one end of the district for the purpose of gaining signatures to the same, and that Mr. G-. tiaston and Mr Joshua Robinson should take the other end of the district for the tuine end. The .same mistake was audeia your own correspondent's Utter of the same date. It put me in a false position. If I canuot get justice to this portionof the district, without making wilful misatateinents, I wtil not condescend to become a false spnaker to gain that end. I hope that you will put the matter to rights. — lam, &c, A. McDonald.
