October 16. At the Victoria battery, Moanataiari Creek, 10 tons of stuff from Heldt's Claim yielded 80 ounces of gold. A crushing of 74 tons from the Panmure Claim yielded 65 ounces of g>ld. A trial crushing of 81b. quartz from the Goldea Star gave a result of 2 ounces of gold. A parcel of atone, about lcwt , from Aladdin's Lamp yielded at the rate of S\ ounces to the ton. Tbiß claim is expected eventually to turn out » very rich one. To show the perfection of this machine, the tailings were tested a few days ago, and only three grains were obtained as a result. Goodall's machine is not at work, as the proprietor is getting fresh machinery from Franer and Tinn-'s, of Aucklaud.and contemplates makiug great improvements. The Homewar'-B>uud machine has been idle the last fortnight-, the machinery having been undergoing repairs. At Harrison, Howard, and Co.'s, formerly known ai Graham's Circular Machine, the result of five weeks' crushing, of 400 tons stuff from Kelly's claim, was 1,307;z gold, stampers are being put to this machine, and other iucii r^vement* are being made. The Qu^rtz-cruabine and IV.ining Company (Lmiteci). formerly known as Gibbons's machmp, Karaka Creek : From 7 tons of stone from the Prince of Wale* Claim. 27' z. 15 iwti. of gold were obuintd, and 5 tons of quart?: from the Blooming .sta' yiel.led 12 z 17dwtg. lO^r*-. gold. The result of crushing 32^ tons stuff from the Lord Nelson Claim wa> 85 >z. gold. Five tons from the Day Sprm* yield-d 80iZ. gold. This machine is now crashing for the Head Centre and Prince of Wales Claims. The Company intend erecting another engine and battery. The Kuranui Company's machine is not at work, but anticipate starting on Monday next. The Thames Crushing Company's machine is heing ereated on a piece of land at fookey's Fiat, opposite Muir and Sullivan's Hotel. It will when finished consist of 20 head of stampers. The tables are on the most improved principle, having steam ripples attached to them Ihe Company propose to obtain, a never-failing supply of water from a well they ara now nuking on the flat. The machine will be in woiking order in about two months. Mr. Perry is aUo erecting a crushing machine at the back of Tookey's stables and adj >ininn the tramwiy. This will be one <f the m-i&t complete machines on the diggings; it will consist of six heal of stampers, each weighing 14c<vt , and the mterprising proprietors anticipate beu-g able t» cru«h 100 tons per week. A patent ama'gvi ator alao will be attached to the tables, ami it is expected when the arrangements ate completed that little or no gold will be lost.
