MAURITIUS.
The Argu* correspondent, writing from Mauritius qa September 2nd, reports :— - Shipments to Melbourne, and, in faot, %\\ the Australian -ports, continue -to be .made only aft long interval*'; and as the sugar of the new crop has only Just begun 1 to- arrive in town, it is probable that exports from -this will continue on a small scale for six weeks or two months more. Now that -the sugar season has 'begun many of the planters complain that the canes do not yield well ; and'ft is 'in consequence «xpeoted by 'some 'persons that the crop will fall ■lightly short o£ the quantity it was estimated wdold be made, viz., 139003 ton's. This, however, I think hardly likely. ' The island during last crop and the' two-' or three -previous ones each season made 1 rather more-angar than was anticipated.
