PUKEKOHE EAST HIGHWAY BOARD.
To the Editor ol the Dailt Southern Cross.. Sir, — la reading the report; of the above meeting I cannot but say that it is incomplete in tome respects, inasmuch as it states that Mr. Kobinson in the first place objected to the Treasurer, moving the adoption of his own report, but it <Jpes not state what reason he gave for doing so, nor vrhat the Chair said on the same point. After th-i auditors certified to the cometness of the accounts no one appeared inclined to get up>to move the adoption of the same. The chairman bad asked Mr. McDonald to move the adoptionMr. McDonald said, if they did not believe the auditors, let them say so. The chairman said that, if no one moved the adoption of the report, Mr. MoDonald could exercise that right. Then the report goes on to iay that Mr. Rcinson. desired that Mr. McDonald would withdraw certain . remarks - Which, ha had made. Now, without, statiog what these remarks were, how, .doe? the public kuow whether Mr. A. MoDonald or Mr. J. Robinson was right ? Mr. McDonald, af ber reading the balancesheet, said that he did not ask the meeting blindly to adopt the report in the first place, and then to appoint auditors to examine that which they had adopted, as they had been asked to do last year ; but he (Mr. MoDonald) asked them first to appoint auditors to examine the accounts, and to adjourn the meeting for .half-an -hour ; .then, if they reported that they were correct, let them adopt the same. Mr. McDonald refused to withdraw any remarks which he had made, beoause those remarks were true. — I am, &c, XXX.
