MILITAEY ITEMS.— REMOVAL OF THE 18th REGIMENT.
It is currently rumoured in Albert Barracks that a wing of the 18th Koyal Irish will leave here for Syd. ney some time during the month of August next, to be followed by the remaining wing in relief of the 50th Regiment, which it is believed will embark for England from the abovenwned port about the same time. It is also rumoured that the 73rd Regiment, from China, is the corps which will relieve the 18th in New Zealand, as the climate of the Celestial Empire has been the cause of an immense share of sickness among the men.
