GOLD AT RANGIRIRI.

It was reported in town last evening that a specimen of auriferotu quariz had been brought down by, a gentleman from the Lakes at Bangiriri, and it was also stated that the specimens had been placed m the bauds of Mr. Back, to bo tented ; but, upon inquiry of thu gentleman, at a late hour lait night, he informed us that 1 the statement was altegether incorrect, as no such speoimens bad been let with him. We learn, however, from another source, that auriferous quartz has been discovered in the neighbourhood of Rangiriri, specimens of which have been brought'tb town by Mr. Moorhouse, brother of the late Superintendent of Canterbury. The discovery is said to he of a very promising character.
