NOTICE. WHEREAS information has been received by me that seTeral persons have illegally "JUMPED," or taken possession of, certain GOLD MINING CLAIMS within the proclaimed Goldfield in the Bauraki or Thames District, and for which proceedings the following reasons are assigned, viz. : — That in consequence of the decision of the Supreme Court, that " I am not a Judge of the Warden's Court, aDd that there has been no Warden's Court constituted for the said District, " there is no law in force within the said Goldfield, and that none can be enforced ; " That certain Miners' Rights signed by me are invalid :" I hereby give NOTICE to those persons whom it may concern that, by section 106 of "The Goldfields Act, 1866," it is enacted as follows:— " 106. All proceedings for any infringements in any Goldfield of the provisions of this Act, or of any rules or regulations made in pursuance hereof, shall, if there be any Court constituted under th>s Act for such Goldfields, be had and taken in such Court ; and, if there be no such Court, then before a Besident Magistrate or Justice of the Peace, according to the law for the time being in force for regulating summary proceedings before Justices of the Peace." With respect to the signature of Miners' Rights, the Goldfields Begulations set forth that those documents shall be iwued by the Warden; but by section i of the Goldfields A-cfc any person authorised by the Governor can issue the same. Pending the result of an appeal which will be made against the decision of the Supreme Court in the case Rowe v. Mack ay, the Kesideut Magistrate's Court for the Bauraki or Ttames district sitting at Shortland will be able to adjudicate in all matters of dispute relatiug to gold mining, except partnership ques. tionß.
