FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 7.
Committee met pursuant to notice. Present : Mr. Creighton, Mr. Gilfillan ; Dr. Nicholson in the chair. Minutes read. Mr. Mcllhone, having been twice summoned to attend the committee, has not yet attended. Efforts also were marie to procure the attendance of Mr. Hazelden, Uto Bettering Officer, but without success. The following extract from a letter of Mr. King, Relieving Officer, was read by the Chairman :—: — " The manager of St. Mary's College, North Shore, informed me the cost of each child during the year 1867 was £1295. 6&» On motion of Mr. Creighton, ordered, That the same be entered on the minutes. On the motion of Mr. Creighton, the committee adjourned till 2.45 p.m., to enable the Chairman to ay a draft of the report before the committee. The committee assembled at 2.45 p.m., the same members present. The Chairman brought up a draft report, and the game being read was adopted. On motion of Mr. Creighton, ordered, That the Chairman bring up report to-day.
