brig Woodlark, Captain MoClemens, arrived from Newcastle, M.S. W., with a cargo of coals on Messrs Henderson and Macfarlane's acoount ; and the same evening, the P., N. 3., and A.R.M. Oo.'s s.». Lord Ashley, Captain Worsp, arrived with the September English mail via Panama. On the tame day, the cntUr shamrock arrived from the East Coast, with a cargo of oil, wool, 4c, aud the BP.S.N. Co.'s s.s. Taiitaog* from Taumnga, with passengers. On the Snd, the barque Susan Jane, Captain crone, arrived from 'limaru, Canterbury, with a cargo of grain consigned to Messrs. Combe* and Daldy. On the 6th, H.M.s. Falcon, Commander Blake, arrived from Melbourne and Sydney, having beet ordered to j relieve ELM. a. Charybdis at this port. The Halcon has been absent some months, during which she has made a visit to the Fiji and other islands in the South Seas. The Thames trade has maintained a perfect fleet of sailing and steam vessels during the week, and shows sigus oE increased traffic The little paddle-steamer Huntress has been brought round from the Manukau, via the Bay of Islands, during the week, for sale, but waa withdrawn. We believe she will be fitted up for the Thames trade. The little fiat-bottomed steamer Maori Chicf — which it intended for the Thames river trade — has been brought overland from Ouehunga during the week, and will be launcht-d on the waters of the Waitemata, fitted with paddle-wheels, and receive other improvtmeuts, and be despatched as a tender to the S.S. Tauranga and Midge at Kauwaeranga. The P., N.Z, and A.R.M. Company's s.s. Claud Hamilton, Captain J. Vine Hall, left on the 2nd for Sydney, with mails and passengers. She also took 1,1690z. of gold, the prodaotjof the Thames goldfield, together with 830 bales of Auckland flax. The ■ohooner Success and outter Betsy have sailed with general cargoes for Napier and Poverty Bay during Hhe week. H.M.s. Charybdis, Captain Lyons, left on the 7th instant for Sydney, under sau, having been relieved by H.M.s. Falcon. The Auckland schooner Clyde has been sold to Captain Irvine, of Rorotonga, and sailed yesterday, in ballast, for the South Seas, in charge of that gentleman. On the night of the 30 th or morning of the 31st ultimo the schooner Hope, an old trader at this port, struck the Rnrimu rocks, near Whale Island, and went down shortly afterwards. She was laden with horses and baggage, and had several passengers on board at the time bound to Mercury Island. The crew and passengers took to the boat, and pulled to Whakatane, some miles distant from Rurimu rocks. The vessel was insured in the Sydney Marine Office. Ttielhree Sisters, which has arrived during the week, reports the loss of the master, Thomas Thomas /who accidentally fell overboard during some ough weather, and was not recovered.

The favourite s.s. Tauranga, Captain Pellars, retained from the Thames last evening at 152 o'clock, after another splendid ran to and fro in half a day. She left Auckland at half-past 11 o'clock yesterday morning, and made the ran down in four houil and 20 minutes, leaving again at 7 o'clock with 50 passengers, and arriving alongside the Queen-street "Wharf aa above. The Tauranga leaves again at 10 o'clock this morning, returning in the evening, and ! will make a f pecial trip to-morrow (Sunday), leaving the wharf at 9 o'clock in the morning, and returning the same night. Thb s s. Midge. — The s.s. Midge, Captain Stuart, arrived at the Queen-street Wharf at half-past nine o'clock last evening, from Kauwaeranga, Thames, with 55 passengers and 80 ounces of gold, the product of the Eureka claim. The IHdge reports having left at half-past 2, and had head winds and sea all the way. Pasted the I.*, Tauranga goiog in ; and reports the cutters Rob Boy, Willie Winkie, and several other veisels < lying there when she left. The Midge leaves again for the Thames at 6 o'clock this evening The brig Woodlark wtfl sail tpdav for Newcastle, N.S.W., in ballast. The cutter Eangatira, Reed, master, sailed for Kauwaeranga, Thames, yesterday, with a cargo of timber, bricks, &c. The Prince of Wales brought a cargo of firewood from Mahur*ngi, and the Stag a similar cargo from Omaha, yesterday. 1 The schooner Mapere, Shepherd, master, oame in, in ballast, yesterday from Kauwaeranga, Thames, and the cutters Mahurangi and Severn, in ballast, from the same place. The cutter Sovereign of the Seas, Moller, master, arrived yesterday from Tauranga via the Thames, in ballast, having conveyed cargo and passengers from the former place. The cutters Wanderer and Petrel arrived yesterday morning from Coromandel, in ballast, with a number of passengers. The ketoh Cassia sailed for Port Typhena, Great Barrier Island, yesterday, with 2 head of cattle, &o. The schooner Tauranga, Captain Bolger, sailed for > Russell, Bay of Islands, last evening, with a cargo of' bricks for the Kawakawa coal mine 3, horses, timber, &c. Passengers : Messrs. L. King, Mrs. Stephensoa, and two others. The cutter Alacrity arrived from the Thames, in ballast, last evening. The schooner Lady Don, Captain Ifwersen, sails to-day for Mercury Bay, where she will load 50,000 feet of sawn timber for Chris tchurch. The schooner Clyde, Captain Irvine, sailed last evening, in ballast, for Borotonga and the islands of the South Seas, with five passengers. The steamers Tauranga and Enterprise No. 2 ■teamed for the Thames diggings yesterday morning, with sundry merohandiie, and about 100 passengeis on board.
