RIVERHEAD. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. ) October 30.
Thb cutter ( Mount Albert,' which has been placed on the Eiverhead ferry service in lieu of the s.s. ' Gemini,' has come to grief. To-day, as she oame from Deacon's wharf to Stevenson s wharf, laden with cargo and passengers, she missed stays, and ran her nose on the ledge ot rocks near the latter wharf. She at once became immovable, and when the tide went down she slid stern foremost into the channel, where she filled with water and sank. The passengers and cargo were landed with all possible speed ; the former went to town on foot, and the cargo is on Stevenson's wharf awaiting another boat. SeTen tons of gum have been sent to town during the week, and about three tons remain awaiting shipment.
