COLONIAL BISHOPRICS.
In the House of Commons on Friday, August 2, Mr Kinnaied asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he had any objection to lay upon the table of the House, in continuation of the piper recently presented on the Church of England in the colonies, an amended return showing from what sources, whether from general donations and subscriptions, or from individual munificence, the trustees of the Colonial Bishoprics Fund have been enabled to provide competent endowments for the several bishoprics erected siuce 1841 in the colonies under her Majesty's letters patent, and in what way such endowments have been invested. Mr Addbbiby was understood to say that the funds inaueßtion were obtained mainly from private munificence. The return in question had been made up from statistics in the office procured from' official Bources, supplemented by information received from the Society for the Propagation of the'Gospd.
