ARRIVAL. Airedale, s.s., from Taranaki and South.
ARRIVAL OF THE S.S. AIREDALE. The P., N.Z-, and A.R.M. Co.'s B.s. Airedale, Captain Kennedy, arrived here yesterday at 1.40 p.m. from Taranaki and Southern Ports one day before her usual time. She, left the Bluff on the 28th September, at 1.30 p.m., and arrived at Hokitikaat Ip.m. on the 30bhj detained at Hokitika until the sth, at 5 p.m., through stress of weather, with heavy gales. ArriTed at VVestport at 10 a.m. on the 6th ; landed passengers, and proceeded to. Nelsen ; arrived there on the 7th, at 8 a.m. ; left same day at 4 p.m. for Wellington. Arrived alongside wharf at 2.30 a.m. on the Bth ; left at 11 p.m. on the 9tb, and arrived at Taranaki at 5.30 p.m on the 10th ; left again at 9 p.m., and arrived off the wharf as above. She experienced strong northerly winds from Wellington, and heavy rain from Taranaki. Cargo: Transhipped at Wellington, ex l.uahine, from Panama, under bond, for Mannkan, I box, Maxwell ; and sundry cargo, short-landed at Taranaki.— H. M. Jervia, agent. Great praise is due to Captain Souter, of the ft. B. 'Tasmanian Maid,' for the manner in which he brought out the passengers from Hokitika in the a.s. • Airedale,' being the only steamer which would ▼enture out— the bar breaking very heaviljat the time right across. After struggling for about one hour and a half in the breakers, he managed to get through and ship his passengers on board all safe. Ocptain Kennedy speaks very highly of Captain Souter and hi? little steamer.
MISCELLANEOUS. The «.■• Rangatira, Captain Seymour, which has been looked for here from Taranaki, Wanganui, and Wellington, for the last week, may be expected on Sunday morning.
