The Gorernment cuntemplaiea sending eight thousand soldiers to Abyssinia for the release of the captives, and a subscription is oommenoed headed by one firm with 200,000 rupees. The * Tirzah,' from Newcastle, Mew South Wales, with coals, was wrecked near Alibiangh, on the 18th June ; seven of the crew were drowned ; the lifeboat was stub to their assistance which was oapsized, and ten were drowned. The Finance Minister has completed a scheme for a gold currency for India. The opium revenue this year exceeds his estimate by £438,600. The accounts from Orissa and the famine districts are encouraging. The cultivation of potatoes in India is largely increasing, and an experimental cultivation of Carolina rice was moat successful.
