Trade is dull, and commercial values are unsettled by the fall of gold. Money is easy, and sterling declining. Bankers' rates for sterling exchange are 108 J. Flour is lower. California is quoted at 13 dollars 50 cents to 14 dollars 25 cents j Western extra at 11 dollars SO cents to 12 dollars 50 cents. The market for wheat of all kinds is dull, and prices have a downward tendency. California wheat is quoted at 2 dollars 90 cents ; Western spring, at 2. dollars 25 cents. California barley closed steady j Canada barley is held at 1 dollar 15 cents to 1 dollar 18 cents. Manilla hemp is quoted at 11^ cents retail. Crude whale oil is 4 dollars 70 cents ; New Bedford selected California coast whale oil is 82 cents, Crude and refined petroleums are lower ; the latter in tins is held at 35 to 38 oents in bond. Whalebone closed dull and lower. Arotic is held at 91 to 95 cent 3 at retail. Wool is unsettled under the influence of the new tariff. Fine wool ia held at sto 8 cents higher. Manufacturers are not disposed to purchase, owing to the depressed condition of the market for goods. 20,0001b. of California wool have been sold at 28 to 32 cents. Gold closed yesterday in New York at 136.
