Colonel Nelson [and Lieutenant Brand have been committed to take their trial at the coming sessions. The accouchement of the Princess Christian is expected to take place in April, and that of the Princess Mary in May next. March 11. — The leaders of the great English Parliament parties hare held outside meetings ; the Liberals assembling at Mr. Gladstone's London House, and the Ministerialists at Earl Derby's official residence, Downing-street. At the lastnamed meeting, the Premier declared that this was the last time he should attempt to deal with the question of Reform, and that if he failed now he should bid farewell to official life. General Burke, one of the Fenian Ueaden in the South of Ireland, has been captured at Tipperary. A band of Fanians, reported to have taken possession of the barracks at Kiltoul (?), county of Eiidare, has been dispersed by the .troops. The insurgeuts made an attack on the barracks at Mount Mellek (?), at the foot of Slievebloom (?) Mountain, and were repulsed. Two of the attacking party were killed. The rebels are said to have assembled to the number of 3,000 in Abelliak (?), Quetn's County. Troops have been sent out to disperse them. An attempt has been made to assassinate the King of Italy, near Milan, which failed. A royal proclamation announces the termination of martial law in Spain. The official despatches relative to the foreign policy of France have been published. London, March 10. — A despatch from Constantinople says that the Sultan has made concessions which are satisfactory to the people of Servia, and has promised to carry into effect the Finnan of 1856. A terrible earthquake has taken place in the Island of Mitylene. All the habitations on the island are in ruins, and hundreds of lives have been lost. President Johnson has finally decided (as the Military Re-construction Bill has passed Congress over his vote) to appoint the folio-wing military commanders for the five military districts into which the Southern States are to be divided — Generals Thomas, Ord, Sheridan, Hancock, and Sheckles (Sickles). A municipal election, which was to be held in the city of Mew Orleans, has been postponed by order of General Sheridan. Matters for the Southern States look very gloomy. Another riot in New Orleans is looked for on account of the action of General Sheridan.
MEXICO. News from Mexico, by way of New Orleans, is to the effect that Mexico city was besieged by a large force, under Porfirio Diaz, estimated at 15,000. Mail and telegraphic communication is evidently cut off from the city. Maximilian was still in the field with 4>ooo troops. President Juarez has notiSed to foreign Governments to change their representations (?) at the City of Mexico.
