ROMAN CATHOLIC ENDOWMENTS.
To the Editor of the Daily Southern Caom. Sir. —Being in the neighbourhood of the Roman Catholic Orphanage, on the North Shore, a few days ago, I saw a number of orphan boys being sent away from that place ; in consequence of which I was led to ask why they were leaving. I was informed that it was because the Superintendent had withdrawn the ten pounds (£10) as usually given yearly for the support of each. "But (said 1) has not the Government given an endowment for that place, for the support of orphan and destitute childred ?" " Yes (said my friend), but the Roman Catholic Bishop is trustee, and he has the land all leased, and converts the rent to — what purposes ?" Now, Mr. Editor, as I am anxious and determined to have this matter investigated, but am ignorant of how to set about it, will you kindly inform me, through your columns, who is the proper party to communicate with on the subject? — I am, &c, A Roman Catholic Okphan.
