POLICE COURT.—Saturday. [Before T. Beckham, Esq., R.M.]

DRUNKENNESS. Mary Conway, Edward Edwards, John Long, James Martin, and John Hannigan were severally punished for this offence. DESERTER.

John Joseph Howe, & deserter from the Royal Artillery, was ordered to be handed over to the military authorities. BREACH OF THE MONICIFAL FOLICI ACT. Joseph Webb and Thomas Young, two soldiers o! the 50th Regiment, were brought up on remand charged with a breach of the above ordinance by wilfully breaking the shop window of Mr. Macready, watchmaker and jeweller, Queen-street. They both pleaded guilty. Mr. Commissioner Naughton said he had made inquiries, and ascertained that the prisoners belonged to the 50th Regiment, and were attached to the 2nd battalion 18th. One portion of the regiment was at Taranaki,and the other at Sydney. The prisoners would be going to either of these places, but the exact time of their leaving was not known. The Bench fined them each in the full penalty of £10. In default of payment they were sentenced to two months 1 imprisonment with hard labour.

THREATENING LANGUAGE. Edward Dale, a seaman belonging to the ship 'Regina, 1 was charged with having used abusive and threatening language towards William Smith, a cook on board the same vessel. The offence was proved, and the complainant swore that he was afraid the accused would take his life. The Bench ordered the defendant to find one surety in £20 to keep the peace and be of good behaviour for two months.

Civil Cask. gbeenwood v. carr. Claim, £19 16s. 9d., balance of account due for goods sold and delivered. Mr. Brookfield appeared for plaintiff. The debt was proved, and judgment given for plaintiff. This olosed the business before the Court.
