DUNEDIN Messrs. Driver, Maclean, and Co. report on the 20th March :—: — I < Transactions in sheep of every description have' been large, holders of partially stocked country buying freely, at about the rates quoted, below. A very large number of sheep have passed through our hands this season, say close uponloo, ooo, and there yet remain about two months' prior to most of our runholders sorting their flocks for the. year, during which time we anticipate a proportionate amount of business being done. Good store cattle, ar*e c ' getting Very scarce," -which -we are inclined to think must increase in value within the next few months. Our month's sales have averaged prices as quoted below : — The market has been well supplied "with fat sheep and cattU of very-fair quality, and we: do not expect any advance on present prices untiliwinter sets in. We quote beef at about 42s 6d~ per 1001b., and mutton at ] 4d to 4id per'lb. There is a demand for well-bred sheep and cattle, in good condition, at, say : — Lambs,, well-grown, equal sexes, 22s per pair. Maiden ewes, 16s to 18s } 4 and 6«tooth ewes, at 15s 6d to t 17b ; full-mouthed ewes, 11s to 12s 6d wethers, 4-tooth and full-mouthed, 12s to* 12s 6d. Cattle, imported, about £9 10s ; provincial-bred do, £10to£ll. Dairy cows' continue in good request at£lsto*2l. 6 Stations.— The following properties have changed hands, say— Messrs. .Devceux and Cogle's Liuder Station, Manuherikia, 60;000 acres with" 13,500 sheep, for £17,000, to Messrs. Glassford Bros. Mr. -Hugh McLeans Benmore Station, on the Hokanui, Southland, 60,000 acres, with U,OOO sheep, for £17,000, to Mr. Geo. Webster. We beg to call attention to the following valuable properties for sale by us, viz : —Mr. Edward Lees's station, 37,000 acres, with 15,000 sheep, on 29th March ; the Wakatipu Runs, . on account of the Provincial-Government, on 29th March; M*. Henry Young's (Otapiri) freehold, station, 7.ll7.aeres*wSth. 2,oo.o sheep, on 25fch April ; Mr. William 'Knkerton's,(T*puanui) station, with 14; 500 sheep, on 25th April '

Wool.— -Since the issue of our last report, we have held our usual sales of wool. They were all well attended by our merchants, wool-growers, and others, although it is gdttipg rather late, in the season. At bur last sale, buyers operatedrathercautiously, being influenced to some extent by the news brought by Ithe last English mail. The prices we have obtained to the present time will prove, without doubt, very satifactory to growers. We shall hold a few more sales before the final closing of the season, and we hare every reason to expect the present rates will be maintained.
