VALPARAISO. July 31. (W. P. Robertson and Co.'s Circular for Australia.)

Brsadstumts. — During the past month demand for breadstuff's has bean principally confined to the English market, although a little has alto been done for Rio and the River Plate. Our latest advices from your side report a slight improvement in prices, but this has not tended to induce speculative shipments, the engagement* for your markets being entirely on colonial account. There has been scarcely any change in prices, which to-day may be quoted as follows with a tendency to rise : — Wheat, 2dol. 50c. per 1551b. in stout sacki, on board of ooastera. Flour, .4dol. 50c. to 4dol. 60c. per 2001b. net cash, on board of coasters. In small out-ports, and at Constitucion (a bad harbour), parcel* can be procured under the current rates here, but on the other hand higher freights and extra insurance must be paid. In TomS there is a little wheat available for the present, but towards September and October stooks may be expected to be increased, as the roads will be in a better oondition for bringing produce to the ooast, Our last quotations from the south are :—: — Wheat, 2dol. 250. per heot. (about 1701b.), in warehouse. Flour, 4dol. 150. to 4dol. 35c. per 2001b. net cash, free on board. Stooks of wheat and flour here are extremely light, and all arrivals of grain find immediate sale for shipment to England. Should demand for that quarter oontinue, it is quite probable that an advance will take plaoe on our present quotation*. So far the prospects for our next crop are good. During the fortnight the following vessels have been taken up : — •Brewster.'from Constituoion to Sydney, 605.; 'Fleur de Meurice,' from Valparaiso to Sydney, 80s.; to Melbourne, 675. 6d.; 'Sylphide,' from Valparaiso to Port Nelson, 70s. (part cargo). The following vessels .have arrived to take back oargoes: — 'Waverley,' at Tome", to load flour (bought at 4dol. 15s. net cash); 'Mer Le Blanc,' at ToinS. The following vessels have sailed in July :— 2nd, 'Zillah,' to Sydney, 13fch, 'Meteor,' to Sydney; 19th, 'Sylphide/toPortNelsoß. The • Queen Victoria' (12,000qql.) has loaded a part cargo at Constitucion, and fills up in this bay for Sydney. Freights to England may be quoted— £3 for wheat from Tome". Exchange, 44J to 445, at 90 days, for first-class paper.
