WEEKLY SUMMARY. Shipping business has been mainly confined to the coasting and inter-provincial trades during the past week. We hare only two foreign arrivals and three departure* to report. The winds have been moderate southerly and aonth-west, and the weather fine throughout. On the 25th, the brig Royal Exchange, Captain Hill, arrived from Newcastle with a outgo of coals to thearderof Messrs. Henderson and Macfarlane; and on the 27th the barque Cassina, Captain Dalziel,* arrived from Port Victor, South Australia, with a cargo of 2,000 bags flour to the order of Messrs. Harris and Laurie. The arrivals from the coast have be*-n very numerous, with timber, coals, and general produce. The s.s. Star of the >outh brought up a cargo of cattle and sheep on tne 28 tb (which were landed at the Tamaki in excellent condition), and returned on the 30th with gome 160 tons general merchandise. The Colonial gunboat Start arrived early on the morning of thtJ2sfch, from Wellington, Napisr, and
the coast, having been engaged in distributing sheep, seed potatoes, and wheat to tbe friendly natives on the East Coast. The Sturt is laid up for repairs to her boiler, and will receive a new forefopmast, after which she proceeds to the Thames to remove tne colonial forces stationed there to Tauranga and Opotiki. The Lady Wynyard, Agnes, Eagle, Savoy I*ss, Celt, Bittern, and Betsy have arrived during the week from Napier and the coast, with cattle, «c. The departures foreign have been the brig Hebe, on the 25th. for Sydney, via Maraitai, with 7U.UUU feet of bulk timber ; tbe brig Venus, for Hone Kong, with bar iron and copper j and the schooner Banshee, for Adelaide, «& Wangapoa, with 50,000 feet «avrn timber. _ , . The N.Z.S.N. Co.'s. ».«. Wellington, Captain Renuer, left ou the 26th for Tanranga, Napier, and the South, with a general cargo aid 35 passengers. The p.«. Tasmanian Maid returned from Waußarei on the 30th with 27 passengers, and left again on the same day for Coromandel with a number of passengers. Tbe Bremen barque Pe«u was floated ofl: the patent slip yesterday, after receiving an overhaul, re-copoering, *c, and will sail for Valparaiso in a day or two. The s.s. Star of the South « the next vessel to be taken on the slip. There are alto several others to be taken on. The P., N.Z., and A.B.M. Co.'s s.s. Kaikoura, Captain Machin, arrived at Wellington on the 24th, from Panama, with a general cargo, and passenger*, three of whom were for this port, and arrived in the s.s. Egmont, on the 30th. The Kaikoura made the passage in 28 days, and both ways in 54. The s.s. Auckland will sail for Sydney tomorrow; and the barque Eliza Shairp for Melbourne, and the hrig Alexandra for Newcastle, to-day.

Some delay in the progress of the wo. U was occasional by the scarcity of copper in the market. The launch was most successfully accomplished. The brig Alexandra, Captain Stephenson, will sail for Newcastle, N.S.W., to-day, in ballast. The barque Cas«-iua, Captain Dalziel, tntered outwards yesterday, for New castle, N.S. W. The cutter Ariel, Andereon, master, arrived last evening from the Kawau and Matakana, with a cargo of bricks. The cutter Tay and schooner Lily arrived yesterday, with cargoes of firewood — the former from Matakana, and the latter from Waiheki. The cutter Bessy, Edwards; master, arrived from the Thames last evening, with a cargo of firewood. The schooner Swallow, Catchpole, master, arrived last evening from Tairua, with a cargo of s-iwn timber, and went into Mechanics' Bay to discharge. The cutter Agnea, Captain Trimmer, sailed last night, for Wairoa, Hawke's Bay, with a cargo of 50 tons firewood.
