FOOT-ROT.

To the Editor of the Daily Souxhien Cross. Sir,— "Will you please insert the following in your valuable paper, as I see that one of your correspondents, signing himself " W.,"is doubful whether my mixture for foot-rot is au effectual remedy. I can safely say that he has never tried it, or else he would not have troubled you with so long a letter on the subject. He also thinks that lam confounding foot-rot with foot-halt ; I can assure him that I am doing nothing of the kind, and if he was to give his real name and address, I might be able to satisfy him to the contrary ; having conversed much with flock-masters and shepherds m the west of England, and having seen a considerable quantity of sheep dressed with Howes foot-rot mixture, and seldom requiring the second application. Grass galls between the hoofs and round the fetlocks are very common when sheep are feeding in long coarse grass, which any shepherd in the old country knows how to treat. Respecting ulcers in the feet, I never heard of or saw a shepherd in my life, after fomenting and poulticing, to dress it with butyr of antimony ; those that would torture poor animals in that way ought never to be in charge of a flock. I can assure you, if your correspondent would but give the mixture one fair trial according to directions, he would never trouble you with another letter, unless to recommend it. I could write a much longer letter on the subject of footrot, but I presume your anxious correspondent would like to get professional advice on the cheap. — I am, &c, Charles Howe. Great North Road, August, 1866.
