AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET. (Report for the week ending August 17.) MR. BUCKLAND'S REPORT.
At tbe Haymarket on Saturday last fodder was in full supply, and rather lower in price, best meadow hay bringing 4s. Od. ; oaten bay, 3s. 3d to 3s. 9d. the cwt. ; sound maize, 65.; damaged maize, ss. 6d.; bran, Is. 7d. to Is. fld. the bushel. i The allotment!, 1J acres, in Freeman's Bay, £600. Tke improvement in prices of horse stock of past few weeks was fully sustained, unbroken draught stock bringing from £25 to £31 10s. each ; riding horses, of good quality, from £15 to £25. There is an inquiry for good draught mares in foal. At tbe Triangle on Tuesday there was a good muster of dairy stock, with a steady inquiry. Store cows bring fiom £8 10s. to £11 ss. ; cows at calring, from £1310s. to £16. At Newmarket on Thursday dairy cows were more in number than bave lately offered ; they were of medium quality, but met with a steady sale at full rates. Well-bred grazing cattle command full rates. Fat cattle of good quality wore scarce, and extreme prices ruled for best animals Medium quality were lower in price. No store sheep offered, and a short market of fat sheep; they were of good quality, but did not sell so high as last week by 2s. per head. Figs were generally of small size, and sold at high prices.
HUNTER AND CO.'S BEPORT. We have to report that fat cattle wtre in fair supply at our yards at Newmarket, on Monday. Prices ruled about 50s. the 1001b. The supply was far short of the requirements. Store cattle were in good supply, and brought high rates. Young stock art in great demand, and. bring high prices. There were a large number of store cows in the market that brought high rates. Dairy cows were slightly down in price. There was nothing very choice in the market. Sheep Market.—There was a large market of fat sheep : prices were good. Some superior half-breds brought 40s. and 425. 6d. each. The Wanganui half-breds brought from 30s. to 35s each Some medium qualities merino, provincialattoned, brought from 225. to 235. 6d. each. Figs were in good supply, and brought high prices. Oxahuhu Sale —There was a good market of young store cattle, that brought high prices. Store cows were ia fair supply, and prices about the same as at Newmarket. Horsi Market.—TVe had a fair show of horses, and prices were fair. Good hacks are in demand, and good prices can be obtained. The market is crowded with inferior animals. Young and sound draught horses that can be warranted bring high prices- A few medium draught horses brougbt good prices. Bay, £410s. to £5 per ton; seed oats, 7s. 6d. per bushel ; feed oats, 6s. and 6s. 3d. per bushel; Sydney maize, 6s. to 6s. 3d.
