THE DANUBIAN PRINCIPALITIES.
The Paris Conference -lias refused to sanction the election of Prince Charles of Hohenzollera as flospodar of Roumania,and Las requested the provisional government to notify the fact in (he official journal.
Notwithstanding, however, the opposition of Turkey, and the Paris Conference, Prince Charles has not only accepted the proffered throne, but gone to take possession of it. He landed a few days ago at Wallachia, where he was received with acclamations, and proceeded direct to the capital amidst the enthusiastic cheers of the people.
LATER INIELLIGENCE. Prince Charl#3 of Hohenzollern, who, on his arrival at Bucharest, visited the Chamber of Deputies, delirered the following speech, to the assembled members : — "Elected to the throne by the free act of the Roumanian people, I have forsaken without hesitation my country and my family. Henceforth -I am a Roumanian. My election by the plebiscite lays upon me important duties which I trust I ■hull fulfil. I bring- you a loyal heart, sincere intentions, » firm determination to do good, unlimited devotion to my new fatherland, and an unalterable respect for your laws. lam resolved to share the good or evil fortune of Roumanis, and wish that between us everything may be in common. Let us strengthen each other by union, and endeavour to surmount every difficulty. Providence, which has hitherto protected me, and has removed all the obstacles in my way, willjnot leave its work undone. Long live Boumania." The father of the new Hospodar is proceeding to Bucharest at the invitation of his "fellow-citizens; " and if a Brussels telegram may be credited, the Prussian Government is endeavouring to 'make the election of Pi ince Charles acceptable to Russia by proposiug a maniage between the young adventurer and a Muscovite piincess. There was a meeting of the Paris Conference, in reference Jto the Principalities lately. The business was confined to receiving from the Turkish ambassador a protest against the act of Prince Charles of Hohenzollern. It is laid that the statement that Russian and Turkish troops had occupied - the Principalities is premature. It is further stated that England and France decline intervention in the question, but, will wait for soae time before recognize a foreign -prince in Roumama. A ntw ministry has been formed in Bucharest.
