ARRIVAL OF THE SEA GULL. The briyantine Sea Gull, Captain Nolan, arrived on Saturday afternoon from Newcastle, N.S.W., with a cargo of coals. She left Newcastle on the 28th lilt., and made the Three Kings on the 6th instant, experiencing head vviuds all the way. Saw a ship under close-reefed topsails, bound to the southward, on the third day out. Cargo : 169 tons coal. - Hendersou and Macfarlane, agents.

THE S.S. CLAUD HAMILTON. Tho P., NZ., and A.R.M. Co.'s s.a. Claud Hamilton, in charge of Acting-Commander George Farcie, left tho wharf at noon yesterday for the Southern provinces vid Tauranga, with a large number of surveyors aud others for the latter place, aud Major-General Chute, for Wellington. She had a general cargo for Southern ports, aud the following passengers on board : — General Chute, Messrs. Gundry, Frasi, Richardson, Bene, Clayton, Weetman, Pitcairn, Simpson, Major and Mrs. Campbell aud child, Miss Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. Hendern, four children, and s-rvanr, Mr. Lee and two children, Mr. W. Mills (H M. Customs), and Mis* Mills. Ntcoud cabin : Mr. Lowry, 32 assistant Government surveyors, and a number of soldiers.

The Circular Saw barque Alice Cameron, Captain Nearing, lelt the harbour at 11 o'clock yesterday morning for Sydney, with a cargo of kauri gum, hides, timber, potatoes, &c, and about 70 passengers. She ltft Wangarei at 3 p.m. on the previous day, and th« Heads at 6 p.m. Had strong winds and heavy sea down the coast, arriviug in harbour at 2.30 am. on Saturday. Passengers : Mr. and Mrs. Hobb°, Messrs. J. Ooehrane, Cross, Burnett, Barber, and twelve others. Cargo : 2 tons luggage, 1 ton butter, and other produce. .Reports the cutter Nymph lying vfiud-bound at Mangapai, bound for Auckland ; and the cutters Aquila and Smuggler lying at the Heads. , 'I he Stdrt.— The p. a. Sturfc, Captain F*irchild. arrived off the Wanganui bar at 2 a.m on Saturday week, and Went alougside the wharf at 8 o'clock, having left O t iotiki on the 27th ult. , for Taoranga, at which place Colonel Russell, the INative Minister, embarked for Wellington, where the Sturt arrived on Thursday week, left again for Wanganni on Friday at noon, and arrived as abore. She had, from Opotiki, under command of Lieutenant McPberson, 30 privates, 1 sergeant, 1 trumpeter, and Cornet Ken rick, Wanganui Yeomanry Cavalry • also 29 privatrs, 2 corporal*, I sergeants, Lieut. Chapman, and Eusigu Northcroft, Pate.* Rangers. She left Wanganui again for Wellington in the evening of the same day, Saturday st»'n night. The Ballarat.— 'I he p.s. Ballarat, Captain Quance, left Hokitika on the 29ih ult., for the Grey Hirer, in order to take in coals for the passage to Auckland. She arrived at the Grey the same evening, and would leave for this port without delay. The Sea Breeze — The schooner Sea Breeze, Captain Norria, arrived in harhour yesterday from Russell, Bay of .Manila, with passengers and cargo. She left the Bay on Friday night, and had strong winds down the coast. Passengers : Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Williams, servant, and family ; Mr. and Mrs. Taylor and family j Mr. Hicton, and Mr. Fox. Cargo; 10 tons gum, 2 tons bacon, and settlers' produce. Reports haviag pissed the ketch Speedwell on Saturday night off Hen and Chickens, but saw nothing of the schooner General Cameron, due at the Bay before she sailed. Thb Bohoonkb Cltdb.— The schooner <.lyd« arrived in harbour on Saturday night from Wangapoa, via Chamberlain's Island, with a cargo of sawn timber. She left Wangapoa on Tuesday last, and had strong S. W. winds along the coast Discharged 7,000 feet of timber at Chamberlain's Island on Saturday morning, and brought 17,000 feet to Auckland. Report the schooners Bluebell and Queen having left Wangapoa with full cargoes of sawn timbtsr for Southern ports. The only vessel there was the Maori cutter Coromaadel collecting kauri gum. The brigantine Sea Gull will haul alongside the hulk to discharge her inward cargo to-day. The brigantine Harriet Ring, Captain McDonald, will sail for Sydney on the 13th inut. The three-masted schooner Rifleman, Captain McClutcbie, arrived at Wanganui on the 2nd from Christchurch, with 600 sheep. The cutt r Sandfly, Doull, maat«r, arrived at Wanganui from Wellington on the 30th ultimo, with a general cargo.
