Dr. Baintrie, who happened to be in the neighbourhood at the time, was promptly in attendance, and found it necessary to amputate the finger. It waa quite a providential affair that the contents were not lodged in the head of the unfortunate gentleman, as one shot passed through the eyelid, uot injuring the eye, but producing a slight paralysis of the nerves of the head, which will ultimately pass off.
