ARRIVAL OF THE S.S. PHCEBB. The Panama, New Zealaud, and Australian Royal Mail Company's s.s. Phoebe, John Gardyne, commander, arrived in the Manukau yesterday afternoon (the 25th), at 2 p.m. The cause of her late arrival was being detained by Government at Nelson 24 hours, to await the arrival of the Sydney steamor, which came in at midnight on the 22nd ; also, on leaving the wharf, she got aground, remaining theie till the following tide, delaying her again 12 hours. Her dates of arrival and departure at and from the Southern ports are as follow : — Sailed f ram Bluff harbour at 4 p.m. on the 12fch instant. Arrived at Port Chalmers on the following day, at 6.40 a.m. Sailed thence for Lyttelton on the 15th inst., at 4.25 pm. Arrived ©n the 16th ins tan b, at 0.25 p.m. Left for Wellington on the 17th instant, at 3 p.m. arriving on the 18th at 8.45 a.m. Sailed for Picton on the 19th instant, at 3 p.m., arriving same day 8.40 p.m. Left on the following day, at 2 a.m., and arrived in Nelson on the 20th instant, at 10.60 a.m. Sailed thence for Taranaki on the 24th, at 3 a.m., arriving in the evening at 6 45. Sailed again at 10.5 p.m., arriving in the Manukau as above. From Nelson to Taranaki experienced strong S.E. winds accompanied with a heavy cross sea ; from thence to Manukau Heads, moderate N.E. and northerly winds, with fine weather. We are indebted to Mr. Wheeler, the purser, for full files of Southern papers, and for Engliih telegrams from Nelson.
