TOBACCO CULTURE.
To the Editor of the Daily Southern Cross. Sir, — I have noticed your paragraph in this day' impression of Mr. Lyall'a tobacco, and in. the ab sence of any better qualified person shall be happy to impart to him the little knowledge I possess respecting the manu/acture of its leaves iuto commercial tobacco. The process i 3 sim >]c, but requires some nicety in operation. The plaut should be denuded of all its flowers, and this bad better be done as the flower bud* appear. All the stre igth of the plant w 11 l»y this m^ans be thrown into the foliage. cau<dnor the leaf to increase considerably in size, and improving thu quality of the tob xcco. I srire yon ray address, and will be happy to see Mr. Lyall if he thinks I can in any way forward his views. — I have, &c. , W. G. Gkat. Auckland, February 13, 1866.
