HOKITIKA.

The bad weather for the past week caused trade to be rather dull. Some transactions have taken place in flour, oats, and butter, chiefly on speculation, the market for those articles having an upward tendency. Best brands of first Adelaide flour are held, and have been sold at £31 to £33 per ton, as per quality, no consignments having come to hand for some time past. Best Chilian is worth £28. Oats are improving; a parcel of 1,500 bushels has been sold at 7s. 6d. per bushel. They have been sold at the Grey River in quantity at 6s. There is no prime Cork butter in the market. Colonial is in supply equal to demand, at 2s. per lb. Cheese, both English and colonial, very scarce at Is. Bd. for colonial, Is. lOd. for good English ; the same may be said of hams and bacon, first brands ; bacon, Is. 9d.; hams, 2s. Sugar continues in good supply, without alteration in price. Teas meet with fair demand at recent quotations. Spirits are being reduced in stock. Martell's and Hennessy's pale brandy, Bs. 6d. to 9s. per gallon ; other good brands, 7s. 6d. to Bs.; Geneva, JDKZ, large contents, 16s. to 17s. per case; whiskey, best malt, 4s. to 55.; case, unsaleable at 10s. to 125.; old torn (Burnetts), 18s. per case ; wines are slow of sale — the prices for port and sherry remain unaltered; ale and porter are in good demand, for first brands, 16s. to 18s. per dozen. Candles, full weights, Is. Id. to Is. 2d. per lb. Pickles, none in first brands. Oilmen's stores in fair demand, at average prices. — JjVest Coast Times, February 5.
