C^ ENTLEMEN,— It was not my intention at the ~K present time to atk the suffrages of any Constituency for a seat in the House of Kepreseptatives, but the retiiement of Mr. Ri^ell has jziven an opportunity for solicitation on the part of some of my friends, to which I have yielded. Although as you know I h&ve been for some time absent from the colony, I have not altogether been unobservant of what has been going on, and have felt along with yourselves the vexatious policy of the late Miuihtry, particularly as it regarded the interosts of Ihe province of Auckland I believe that my opinion will, in general harmonize with those of the late Representatives from this province, and I am prepared, should you honour me with your choice, to do my best, along with those Who may now be returned, to carry out those opinions, and to endeavour to seenre to Auckland' her proper position in the colony. — I have, ke, ARCHIBALD CLARK.
