GARRISON HUNT.
The members of the Gairison Hunt met yesterday, at the camp, Otahulm, when one of the largest fields of the season assembled. The hounds thiuw off about three o'clock, and the course was up the mount, neir the cimp, tlien dropping into the Otahuhu road, and off towards Mangarei. The leaps were o\er stiff post and-rail fences, quick-set hedges, and banks and ditches. The field, during the run, were more straggling than on any previous occasion, owing somewhat to the stiff leaps, but principally to the long gallops between the fences, in which the condition of the horses told. The country was in fine order, owing to the recent rains, and not too soft. The weather could uot have been better. There were a few pretty severe " cioppeis" at the woisfc fences, which woie of a nature to call the powen of the horses and the ability of the riders uito play. The leap into the Otahuhu load, after descending the mount, was a veiy difficult one, and several came to grief at it ; the two last fences were also stiff, aud brought to a check the greater parb of the field. Ai on all previous occa-ions, Major Baker acted a* master, Mr. K.ut was the whip, and the houuds were Mr. Mati avers, Mi. Banks, Captain Stone, and Mr. Cox. The run was about six miles iv length.
