WEEKLY SUJMARY. We have li*d a bitiy week since our last summary was written. The foreign nrrlvals number nino, nnd tho departure? two, whilst the coasting arrivals and departures have been proportionately great The prevailing winds have been strong westerly, and vessels have been enabled to make good runs to the North Cape of New Zealand The first arrival was tho London ship Slam, commanded by Captain Ashby, who has made five vojages to this port in command of immigrant ships. She made the harbour on tho evening of the 17th, with a large general cargo of merchandise, railway iron, machinery for a patent illp, and 43 passengers This vessel, which has succeeded the Maori in the Auckland trade, is a fine Ipswich-built ship, of 743 tons register, and owned by the same firm as the Maori. The last-named vessel Captain Ashby took horn* some eight months ago, with invalid soldiers on board. The Siam lias been laid on for Londtn, and will receive a portion of H.M. 70ih Regiment, who are under orders to proceed to England II JI s Eclipse arrived in harbour the tometveningfrom Sydney, where she had goneforrepairs after sustaining an injury to her bottom through bumping on ri rock oil the But Coast a few Months previously On the following day, tho 18th, wt had no less than four arrivals of foroign vessels. The first was the flnt cattle ship Hydra, from New castle, with fat stock, sheep, and maize, on account of Messrs. A. L. Thomson and Co. Tho barque Lombard put into harbour the i*m» morning from Port Cnrtis, Queensland, with a cargo of cattle for Tauranga. She called for a supply of water before continuing her journey, and left on the following morn ing. Tut coal barque Fanny Small was the next to arrive, with coals and maize, from Newcastle. Tho French brig Pionnier arrived off the North Head tin same morning from the Mauritius, 67 days out, with a cargo of 200 ton* sugar, con■lgntd to Messrs Henderson and Hacfarlan*. She came up harbour with the afternoon's tide. On the following morning the brig Princess Alice arrived from Newcastle, with a cargo of coals, after a run of ten days The next to arrive was the Circular Saw barque Kat», which anchored off the North Head from Sydney on the morning of the 23rd, after a quick ran of nine days. She brought a largt general cargo of merchandise, and 10 passengers. Tho P , N.Z , and A.R JI. Company's s.s. Prince Alfred rounded the Heads soon after, after a good run of six days from Sydney. She was the bearer of English telegraphic news up to September, but brought no mail, having left Sydnty immtdlattly the n»ws was telegraphed, two days btyond her time of departure. The aepartuns (fortign) have been confined to two— on the 23rd the fine barque Orita, for Constitution, Chili, in ballast, where she will load breadstuff's for this port ; yesterday, the cattlt-ship Hydra, for Ncwcastlt, in ballast. The barque Gltncoe sailed on the 18th, for tht Kalpara, with a general cargo of merchandise ; and on tht 10th tin barque Lombard, for Tauranga, with original cargo of cattlo from Queensland.
