OFFICERS Y. NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICERS AND MEN.

A. "match was played on the Albert Barrack Square on Satuulay lnst, between two elevens of officers and non commissioned officers and men in the A uckland garrison. There was n good attendance on the green at the tirao wickpts were pitched, amongst whom weio a fair spi inkling of Indies. The officeis were the first to take the wickets, and sent one of their best bats, in the peison of Mr. Lambert, Militaiy Train, Ho, however, proved unluoky, and left the wickets without starting the score, owing to the excellent bowling of private Adams, 12th Regiment. Captain Chuke, 40th ltogiment, was the next to handle the willow on the sido of the ofliceiH, and also left the sturnpi beforo bcoi ing anything. Captain Fwiaday nnd the Rev. Mr. Bayley succeeded them, and started the game with four between them. The game then began in earnest, with Dr. Alston, R. A., who shewed his antagonists that ho wan not to be 10 easily disposed of as his companions, and stood his ground until he had added 20 to the score. Major Baker followed, and, notwithstanding his excellent play, was rim out after scoiing four. The remaining six wickets went down for a score of 21, making a total of 49 The non.commiisioned officeis then took the wickets, and scored 11 less in their first inninga. The second innings of the officer* was greatly supeiior, and allowed that they were just beginning to take an interest in the game. Lieutenant Howard materially assisted the score by adding 28 runs to hii name, whilst the noncommissioned officers and men evinced Rome unskilful fielding by allowing their antagonists to add 17 wides to the score. The second innings of the officeis terminated with a score of 72, leaviug the other side 83 to score to win, The second innings | of the non-commissioned officers and men, however, resulted in a score of 44— leaving the officers victors by 39 runs. The bowling of the non-commissioned officers and men proved somewhat destructive during the first patft of the game, although the wicket- keeping on their part wm anything but skilful. Trumpeter Clements was perhaps au exceution to this remark. Lieutenant Howard obtained his scores in good form, whilst his ■lowi proved mo3t destructive throughout the play, and created a like dissatisfaction amongst the noncommissioned officers and meu, some of whom went I so far as to call it " not play." Trumpeter Clements bowled 11 overs in three wickets, the amount of runs from his bowling being 7. Major Baker was captain of the officers' elevra, and Trumpeter Clements ou the opposite side, The following is the score :—
