Mr. Weaton appeared for thi defendant. | Henry Garland depoied ai followi : I engaged a bed at the Royal Hotel on the 16th initant, and at •leren o'clock I was thown into my bedroom by the
semut. I bolted the door. About an hour »nd a-half after I was arouced by angry calls of "Open tli« door 1" I opened it, and saw the defendant. He wantod to know why I fastened the door. I said 1 always did.to jvljen peeping in a public-house. We had an altercatiou about the key of the door. I wishtd to leave, when defendant asked me to pay for I the bed. I told him I would do so in the morning. Defendant and another then came with me to the front door of the house. I was knooked down by defendant. The blow caused the marks on my face. William House, barman at the Royal Hotel, proved that plaintiff was struck by the defendant, although he oould not say who was the aggressor. Mr. George, landlord of the Royal Hotel, testified to the defendant's good character. Fined £5, or two months' imprisonment.
