After delivering the volley the natives fled, pursued by tlie volunteers, who, it is i-t.itcd, killed ■■CNeial of them. O'Neill died on the diy after receiving his wound, and his body was taken to New Plymouth by tho 'Ahuiiri,' and buried there.
