In no mstauce as yet has any payable goldfield been discoveied , butthii is not to bo wondeied at, as no pioper trials have been made. A p.uty, howevei, undei the scientific snpenntendence of Lieutenant Blown, are now sinking a shaft in the llaveloclc swamp, aud have met with fan. prospects before bottoming, which piobibly they will not achieve in tha present season, without slabbing and C.ilifomian pumping.
