STATE BALL AT BUCKINGHAM PALACE.

Bt coinm-uid of the Queen a State ball was given on June 29 at Buckingham Palace, to which a party of between 1,700 and 1,800 was invited. The Piiuce and Princess of Wales enteied the ball-room soon after ten oYlotk. The Piincess of Wales wore a dress of black siX ooveied with black and white tuile handsomely tummed with uch Biusjsels lace, flowers of mountain ash and lilies ; tiara of diamonds, necklace, bioocb, and ear-iin£*s of diamond*. The Pnucess Louis of Hesse wore a lilac tullo skirt oror a lilac silk petticoat w lth ruches of whito and lilac tulle, a top sknt of white tulle with silver embroidery and trimmed with passion floweis; head-dress, a net of diamonds and passion iloweis biooeh and ear-ring* emeralds and diamonds, necklace, peails, witheinerald3 and diamond ornaments. The Princess Helena wore a dress of gieen tulle and crape over glace silk, trimmed ' with pink roses and lilies of the valley.
