lloiurton. — The Mercury says, in its monthly summary — "Our shipping trade is rapidly incieasitig, chiefly with New Zealand, and chaiter-paities mo easily obtainable at leimmerative lates for those poits. It is expected that the tiade will increase as the weather improves, inasmuch as commnnication with tlieup-conntiyfjoldficldsof Dnnedin will be established, and n great demand for supplies will be sure to spring up. Our produco maiket is pood at present, and there is a tendency to wauls further improvement 1 " The same paper of the 28th ult. repoits— "The past week has been one of continued dullness in the iinpoib and produce maikets, and there is very ltttlo to repot t. Several sales of pioduce have been made for shipment to New Zealand, and there has been an increased demand for split timber, but the supply has been fully equal to it. Potatoes have arrived rather more freely, nnd the demand for them has been fully supplied at quotations. In prices there is no change to repoit, and the list is as follows : — Flour, £13 pur ton ; wheat, ss. 9d. to Cs. poi- bushel ; oats, 6*. per bushel ; hay, £5 to 6s. for country pressed, and £5 15s. to £G 15s. for hydraulic pressed (according to quality) ; potatoes, £G to £6 10s. per ton, bags included. L VUNOES'ION. — The Hxamincv of the 20th inst. leports :—": — " Our maikets continue very qniot, potatoes being the only aiticle in which any movement is taking placo. Sales' have been made at £6. Flour may still bo quoted at £12 to £13. In wheat pietty well a standstill is caused from the disinclination on the pait ofbuyeia to give the figure asked by holdem, which about ss, 4d, Trussed hay reemains at about £5 to £5 10s. ; and hydraulio preued £8 to £8 10s.
