STABBING WITH INTKNT. .Johu Hayes, a private in the Second Wnikato Hegimeufc of Militia, was placed at the baron a charge of violeutly assaulting Nathaniel Sadleir, private in tlie same regiment, at the Whau Hotel, on Monday the 12th inst., by stabbing him in the right hip -with a bayonet, with intent to do him some-grievous bodily harm. The Commissioner of Police said the wounded man was lying in the hospital, and produced a smgeon's certificsite that he was not likely to be able to walk foi the next week. He therefore asked for a remand for a week. .Remanded accordingly till Friday next. PRI.NKENNfc.3S. Edward Brown was fined 20s. and cost"!, with the alternative of 4S hours' imprisonment, for being drunk and taking liquor to the sailors on board the ' Ganges.' Sarah Hill, John Power, David Hendry, and Margaret Condron were each fiued 6$ and cost* ; in default of pajnvMifc to be imprisoned for 24 hours. Sarah Cooper for a. fourth offunce within tlnee month? was sent to gaol for nine days.
