To the Editor of the Daili/ Southern Cross SIR, — The inhabitants of Mongonui are beginning' to think uciiouily that Auckland will be satisfied with nothing less than all. Nothing whatever must be done for the outposts, no matter though seveial days can be saved by coining into Mangonui instead of Auckland — Auckland murt be the poi t of call for tlie Panama route. Now the utiuggle is between Otago and Auckland. The claims of this place, which aie really gre.iter than either of them, are completely ignoied, because no influenco can be brought to bear in favor of Mangonui If the merchant"! of Auckland weie located up heie, it is astonishing how soon they would discover the truth which now appears extremely obscme I am, sir, An Inhabitant of Manoonvi.
