City of Auckland Debentures. Superintendent's Office, Auckland, 17th November, 1859. VTOTICE is hereby given that Tenders will be JL^j received at this Office, or at the Office of the Oriental Bank Corporation, Sydney, until noon of THURSDAY, the sth January next, from persons desirous of advancing the whole or any portion of the sum of Thoustnd Pounds, on the security of Debentures to be issued under the provisions in that behalf contained in an Act of the Legislature of the Province of Auckland, intituled,— "The City of Auckland Debentures Act, 1859." If a Tender be accepted, Debentures, secured as provided by the said Act, will be issued for the sum advanced, on payment of the amount, in cash, into the Public Treasury cf the Province. Each debenture will be payable to bearer, and will be issued fdr the sum of One Hundred Pounds. The principle will not be payable until the Ist day of January, 1875, and will bear interest in the meantime at a rate not exceeding 7 per centum per annum, payable half-yearly on presentation of the Debentures at the Provincial Treasury at Auckland, or as provided by the said Act, on or after the Ist day of January and the Ist day of July in every year. Parties tendering are requested to state — 1. The amount they are prepared to advance, and the sum which they offer for each £100 of such Debentures, and the rats of interest required for each £100. 2. Whether or not the Tender is conditicnal upon the acceptance of the full amount, or of airy specified portions of the sum offered. Tenders to be sealed, and endorsed "Tender for Debentures." J.' To Civil Engineers and Others. CITY WATER WORKS. Superintendent's Office, Auckland, November 28th, 1859. IT having been found by observation that the Springs in the Government Domain, from.which it was at one time supposed that a sufficiency of Water for the City could be obtained, are inadequate, it has become necessary to seek a supply elsewhere. The attention of Civil Engineers and others is invited \o this question, and a . rize of Fifty Pounds is hereby offered for such Report, as shall be ad judged to be the best, upon the mode of obtaining a sufficient supply of water for the City of Auckland. ,Eeach Report mu-t be accorapanieJ by explanatory drawings, and a probable estimate'of- the cost of the whole of the Works, (exclusively of laying down the pipes in the City), and must be delivered at this office on or^jefbre MONDA%t^e9th day of January next. >* % J. A BILL, „, by which the Levels which have;.been, taken of several Streets in the City will bedeclared to be the permanent Levels of those Streets, is proposed to be laid before the Provincial Council in its next Session. A M ap of Ae City, together with the Sections and proposed Levels of Streets, may be inspected at the Waste Lands Office. Objections, made in writing, by persons whom any proposed alteration of level may concern, will be received at this Office, and will be laid before the Provincial Council when the Bill is being considered.
